Having trouble with the game? Answers to the most common questions are below — if yours isn't here, email jaredcarneson@icloud.com and you'll get a real reply.
Pick a mode from the Game Setup screen — Dealer (you write the pitch), Cards (you pick the funniest combo), or Open (you invent the whole thing) — then pass the device around or play against bots. Full rules are in the "Meet the judges" and "Meet the competitors" links on the setup screen.
By default the game runs on the free Local Logic judge, which scores rounds with simple built-in rules rather than AI. For sharper, more in-character reactions, go to Game Setup → AI Enabled Judge and either enter your own Anthropic API key (free) or subscribe to the House AI judge ($1.99/mo).
In the iOS app: on a new device, or after reinstalling the app, go to Game Setup → AI Enabled Judge → Use Our AI, and tap "Restore purchases." This uses Apple's own purchase record for your account, so it only works signed in with the same Apple ID that subscribed.
On the web: there's no login system, so tap "Restore purchases" and enter the email you subscribed with — that looks up your subscription and restores access on that browser. It only works with the exact email used at checkout.
In the iOS app: House AI is billed through Apple, not us — manage or cancel it anytime in your iPhone's Settings app under your Apple ID name → Subscriptions.
On the web: House AI is billed through Stripe. Every confirmation, renewal, and billing-issue email from us includes a link to manage or cancel your subscription — use the most recent one, or email jaredcarneson@icloud.com and we'll help directly.
Your own Anthropic key is stored in your device's secure Keychain, never sent to our servers, and only ever sent directly to Anthropic to run your own requests. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of what each AI mode does with your data.
Email jaredcarneson@icloud.com with what happened and, if you can, which mode you were playing (Local / BYOA / House) — that speeds up tracking down the issue a lot.
